I've fabricated this recipe about a dozen times and I love it! The only thing I'd recommend is washing the canned beans in a colander to reduce the extra sodium in the canned juice. Otherwise the chili tastes besides salty.
xi/05/2006
I'k giving this a "solid" 4 of 5 stars. I tweaked it simply a bit, using a pound of footing chuck and about 3/4 to 4/5 pound of mild italian sausage. Cut back on the salt a bit "but 'cause" and used a little stock rather than the water to give it a piddling "dull-cooked" flavor. I've had it on the stove for about a 1/2 hour and it's already respectable. I'm expecting good things with a petty time for the flavors to "meld." Volition definitely keep this recipe around, especially for quick-fix chili cravings.
07/19/2001
This chili is crawly! My beau and I take fabricated information technology at least 5 times because we always go a craving for information technology. I've also made it in the crock pot and it turns out very well.
01/nineteen/2004
This chili was Fabulous!!!! I fabricated a couple of changes by using a cup of dark beer instead of the water, and for one of the cans of diced tomatoes I used a tin can of Rotel "chili fixins" diced tomatoes. Topped with some sour foam and cheese and atop white rice this was the best!
01/03/2008
Fantabulous, quick chili recipe. I used 1 can of beef broth in place of the water, and crushed cerise pepper flakes instead of hot pepper sauce, and all kidney beans since that's what was in closet. Volition definitely be my NEW chili recipe! Thanks for sharing.
06/06/2000
It was sooo skillful! The best chili I have ever fabricated. I modified information technology a lilliputian, replacing beer for the water and adding a fiddling cinnamon, cocoa powder and red basis pepper. It was delicious!
11/21/2006
I used this recipe as a base for the ingredients I had on manus, different tomato products and beans. I added a can of lycopersicon esculentum paste - equally it seemed a fleck soupier than I like. A winner with the kids too!
02/10/2008
I've made this multiple times. I almost ever made a triple batch in my stock pot and freeze portions for lunches for next calendar week or so. You can easily double the chili powder for more spice, or even puree a few jalapeno peppers with the lycopersicon esculentum sauce when yous add together it.
ten/02/2000
This was horrible chili. Will not make again.
04/02/2010
This turns out nifty! I tweak it a bit, though, because I think it turns out too soupy just the style it's written here. I add i/two of a sweet scarlet pepper, chopped, and ane/2 of a bell pepper (any color I take on hand), chopped. I omit the water birthday. I drain the beans a scrap and utilize black beans instead of pinto beans for color and a stronger flavour. Instead of fresh garlic, I use 3/viii tsp. garlic pulverization. I only use almost 1 tsp. of sea salt. I also use 1 tsp. carmine pepper flakes in place of the hot pepper sauce. This is a great recipe for rainy conditions! Thank you. =o)
11/28/2011
Great chili with a few modifications. I substituted the can of regular diced tomatoes with a can of diced tomatoes with green chilis. Subtituted the pinto beans with a can of whole kernel corn. Likewise added a vi oz can of "Hunt's Tomato Paste with Basil, Garlic, and Oregeno" since the original recipe was a little too soupy. This thickened it up nicely. Since I added the tomoato paste, I also added a few more than shakes of chili pulverisation (maybe an additional 3/4 tsp). I tuckered the kidney beans and rinsed them earlier adding to the pot. I used about 1/2 tbsp of table salt (instead of one tbsp) and an flood tbsp (instead of 1 tbsp) of Frank's Ruby-red Hot sauce. This was the best chili I've ever had. Highly recommended.
01/xiv/2011
honey love love information technology! i only made a few changes. i used beef stock instead of h2o, a can of kidney beans instead of the pinto (what i had on mitt), and 1/2 tbsp of hot pepper sauce instead of a full tbsp (i am not a spicy person!). it was perfect! spicy enough for my husband, yet not likewise crazy for me! thank you for my first chili recipe that i love! will definitely make again and again!
02/19/2000
This si the best Chili I've ever made. I actually is better the next 24-hour interval!
04/19/2011
This was really tasty! I go to a customs college for culinary classes and we had a soup practical today and we had to brand chili and another soup of our option. I did everything to the t, except I forgot almost the pinto and kidney beans. So I split a can of cannelini beans in one-half since I was making minestrone every bit well. My teacher gave me a 93 saying it was thick, chunky, rich and compact. Thanks so much for this recipe! I retrieve I'll use this recipe forever!
eleven/xx/2011
We had this tonight. Had to add a few extras since we did non have exactly what was called for.
01/29/2010
Good chili, except it was a little too sweet. Against my better judgement, I added the 2 TBS of saccharide. It would have been better with about 2 tsp of sugar. I served it over Flamin' Hot Fritos, and so put a scoop of mac northward cheese on peak with a dollop of sour cream. OMG information technology was GOOD. The Flamin' Hot Fritos took some of the sweet away. I likewise only used 1 can of beans, crusade real Texans don't put beans in their chili and I'm still a Texan at heart!! I will apply this recipe once again and again for quick chili, but with less sugar.
01/05/2011
Excellent recipe. I omitted the water and used night beer following the advice of 1 of the reviews I read. My family unit LOVED this chili.
x/xix/2010
Very practiced chili. I usually don't review recipes when I mess with the ingredients, but my changes to this one were minimal. I omitted the 8 oz. can of sauce and instead added a xiv.five oz. can of stewed. My 3 cans of diced tomatoes were Fire Roasted, w/ green chilis, and w/ green pepper onion and celery. I couldn't see using an Italian manner tomato in a chili recipe...simply I'k sure it would have turned out fine anyway. I used 1-1/2 lbs. ground beef because that's all I had and I seasoned to taste, rather than with exact amounts. It turned out very well, though mine is probably a bit more than watery than if I would take used the viii oz. of tomato plant sauce. I cooked this on low for about an hour and a half to cook the tomatoes downwards. Thanks for sharing!
03/15/2011
Muh. Easy but missing the depth of flavor associated with chili.
02/28/2011
Perfect flavor!! I forgot to add together the water and glad I did equally the consistency was just the way I like it not to thick or thin. Thanks Pam bully recipe!
01/09/2011
Loved this recipe! Served with Mexican cornbread. I used 28 oz. of diced tomatoes and 1 can of Rotel instead. I as well halved the hot sauce so my 2 yr old could eat it.
04/10/2010
I was not birthday impressed with this recipe. Admittedly, I altered it a scrap to fit the ingredients that I had, but the alterations were minimal. I left out the hot pepper sauce, substituted garlic powder for the minced garlic, and used Mexican style stewed tomatoes instead of Italian-fashion since that was what I had bachelor to me. When I starting time tasted it, it was a little besides sweet, then I added a splash of white vinegar to balance it a scrap. That helped, but when all was said and done, in that location was nonetheless some flavor present that made information technology gustatory modality a picayune odd. Others who ate it said they thought information technology tasted fine, only I wasn't satisfied with information technology and ended up getting rid of the leftovers because I knew I wouldn't eat it.
10/05/2010
I changed it a picayune from what I had on hand. I used ii cans of diced tomato plant, one (4oz) tin chopped light-green chili'south, omited the water and added a can of chili beans. Eveything else was the same as recipe. It was really good
12/12/2010
This chili is absolutely delicious. We had to substitute a can of tomato paste for the tomato sauce, merely we didn't change anything else. We will definitely make this again! Thanks for a great recipe, Pam!
09/16/2011
The outset fourth dimension I made this, I followed the recipe exactly, and it was pretty skillful. My fellow (a Texan) and I both enjoyed it, and it truly did get better every day. The second time, I only fabricated one change- added some bacon (about 5 slices) and substituted some of the beefiness for mild italian sausage. This fourth dimension, it turned out very soupy, I had to cook it way longer than suggested to thicken the sauce. And information technology was and then incredibly spicy that I took i tiny taste and my mouth was burning the residual of the night! I tried to dilute the spice by calculation a little saccharide, and some flour to thicken it upwards and battle the spice, but by the time I added enough brown sugar and flour to make the spice bearable and get the right consistency, information technology had become too sweet. I'yard non sure if information technology was considering I used a unlike brand of hot pepper sauce that was likewise overpowering, or if using the sausage instead of beef was also much. I'll probably beginning looking for a different chili recipe, considering although information technology was very good the first time I fabricated it, the 2d time I was pretty disappointed. Likewise soupy, too many tomatoes (I prefer beefier chili to chili that's heavy on veggies), and too spicy. Tip: I fried the salary in a sautee pan, and removed the bacon only left the grease in the pan. Then I sautted the onion and garlic in the bacon grease, instead of in with the beef. This gave the onion and garlic and AMAZING flavor, I almost wanted to eat them plain instead of adding them to the chili!
05/04/2011
I would make this once again. Didn't add the sugar, though.
11/17/2010
I've used this recipe for two years. It is delicious. Manner Easy. The simply tweak I've made is I use red beans, in place of kidney and pinto beans.
04/16/2011
This was VERY EASY to make. I am non a fan of cooking so this was nifty for me. The only thing that I would alter would be the amount of table salt; perchance only use half of what is called for; it was fashion to salty for my gustation. Other than that, it was delicious!
12/19/2011
Very good and quick! I followed the recipe to a T except that I rinsed both beans and used chicken broth instead of water! Yum!!
12/01/2010
This was really, really succulent. It was extremely piece of cake to brand. My husband loved it along with some homemade corn bread I made. Really Great recipe!
01/eighteen/2011
This is one fantastic chili. I accept made it several times and I am never dissappointed. The affair is that I added a little extra garlic.
08/31/2011
This was wonderful chili and it will definitely be made again in this house. I made just a few changes but I retrieve it would have been fine every bit it is. I used beefiness goop in place of the h2o, i didn't add the cumin considering i didn't take whatsoever, i used two cans of each of the beans and I added a minor tin of green chiles. It was So succulent. If it is meliorate the 2d mean solar day I tin can't imagine how good it is going to be tomorrow. Thanks Pam.
02/02/2010
Crawly!! I was told this was "outstanding". I only made a few pocket-sized adjustments - merely used half the beans and I used diced tomatoes with chili flavoring rather than Italian seasoning. I also let it simmer for about 2 hours rather than 30 min. Thanks for this awesome, easy, chili!!!!!
02/28/2010
Actually quick and tastes better than a lot of chili recipes that have forever. I always serve my chili over rice, and my husband's over sweet cornbread, with sour cream and cheddar cheese on top.
01/eleven/2012
My family had this last nighttime, and everyone loved information technology! It's quick and easy to make. Nosotros topped it with grated cheese and chrushed some chips on top. It has a groovy season. I was surprised my kids would like it with all the tomatoes in the recipe, but they really add a lot of flavor. I was also very surprised we had any left over, merely the leftovers won't last for long!
04/12/2012
This was a decent chili, but it didn't wow me. I made it exactly as written. The "hot pepper sauce" I used was original Tabasco Sauce. I did notice an inconsistency with one ingredient: "Italian-mode diced tomatoes" (east.one thousand., tomatoes with a few herbs) in the ingredient list, became "diced tomatoes with chili peppers" (e.g., Ro-Tel). I used the quondam. Also, it didn't say whether to rinse and/or drain the beans, and then I didn't. The chili came out a little soupy to my gustatory modality, and the sugar added a sweet not often seen in chili. It was overnice enough, and I ate it all over about iv days, but it just didn't stand out amidst chilis I've tried.
12/25/2009
Fabricated this for our visitor Christmas dinner pot luck. Put it in a crock pot and let it cook until the political party. Made it as is. Was very skillful. Cheers for the recipe.
05/13/2012
I have a picky hubby, and a 9 year erstwhile daughter who hates chili and both of them loved this chili! Our whole family loved it! My daughter asked me to make it again! I tried to stick to the original recipe only didn't have everything on manus then I had to brand some changes; I used cubed chicken breast instead of ground beef, only about 1/2 of a cherry onion instead of 1 onion, replaced the Italian-style diced tomatoes with diced tomatoes with roasted ruddy peppers, and a can of black beans replaced the pinto (I actually need to get shopping!). I too left out the common salt and really did non miss it. I left out the black pepper cause I don't really similar it. Everything else I did according to the recipe. It was and so very yummy!!!
03/23/2009
Very fast recipe to put together and it tasted keen. I fabricated a few changes, such as adding stale oregano, hot paprika and a pinch of cayenne. I omitted the salt - Style likewise much sodium. I used a bottle of beer instead of the water, and let information technology simmer for 30 minutes before calculation the beans (plus some chopped green pepper). I permit information technology simmer some other 30 minutes, and served it with grated cheddar and a dollop of sour cream on top.
12/29/2011
This is a good chili. Side by side time I will use all kidney beans, and ease up on the spice some
12/30/2011
This came out bang-up! It made a ton and was good for leftovers. My only alter was to utilise onion pulverisation instead of diced onion.
04/20/2011
I really love this recipe. Information technology is a expert identify to outset. From here you tin can get a little artistic and kickoff making up your oWn take. Wonderful!
04/20/2010
I used some jalapeno juice instead of the hot sauce, only otherwise, this is great chili! This is my base recipe from now on.
12/27/2011
Succulent. Fastest, easiest chili. I used the full T of cumin and about 1 1/3 or i 1/two T. Chili powder. Hot pepper sauce for your own bowl as desired. Served with yogurt or sour cream, chopped green pepper and onion and shredded cheddar.
03/eleven/2006
This is a fabled recipe for chili! Not only is it quick, it'south also piece of cake. I practice, even so add 2 cans of kidney and two cans of pinto beans. Rinse them well. Add also a dark-green pepper to the onions when cooking. Gives a picayune more "meaty-ness" to it. As well, to give it a little more smoky season, I do my ground beef on our charcoal grill. Just adds the footling something to the flavour. All in all, I'd say amazing recipe! Thanks so much for sharing!
08/18/2011
Very proficient recipe. I Actually enjoyed it. In my instance, I added 1/two a light-green pepper and one/2 a red pepper, one-half the table salt and no sugar.
12/10/2001
Needs more beans.
07/28/2008
My husband and I have been looking for an easy chili recipe. This is fantastic!! Thank you.
12/31/2011
Excellent! I used ground turkey, boosted garlic & both pinto & black beans. Delish!!!
xi/23/2008
This recipe is keen in gustatory modality also as simplicity. I would recommend using the diced tomatoes with no salt added considering I didn't and somehow information technology turned out too salty for us, I recollect 1 tablespoon of salt might be too much. I will try to cut down adjacent time now that I know what to expect. You tin can ever add salt but it is extremely difficult to reduce it one time its in it. I did increase the pepper sauce due to personal preference and added a picayune more cumin, chili powder and a pocket-size dash of oregano.
09/xiii/2011
This was so easy to make and was delish! I changed the diced tomatoes to rotel diced tomatoes with chiles.. 14 oz size.. and omitted the hot pepper sauce.. and information technology was perfect!
01/23/2010
Slap-up standard recipe. I have been making this with fake veggie meat (yves mexican flavored, it's 3/4 pound per pack) and have been using tomato paste instead of tomato sauce since as some people said, it's likewise liquidy. I don't have this problem with the paste. Too I found that if you put the beans in undrained, then don't add salt, information technology'southward as well much.
ten/06/2008
This is my husband's favorite chili recipe. I made very slight changes which are: Instead of Italian-mode diced tomatoes, I apply Chili-style diced tomatoes (usually find this at WalMart). I utilize 2 cups of water instead of 1. I increase the chili pulverization & ground cumin by 1 teaspoon each. Instead of simmering on the stove, I put everything in the crockpot and cook on low heat for half dozen - viii hours. Makes the house smell wonderful and the flavors have that "adjacent day" sense of taste which I beloved from soups, stews & chili.
12/28/2009
We loved how quick & easy this recipe was, the simply problem was the sweetness. In our opinions chili should not exist sugariness. We kept saying over and once again this is so practiced EXECPT for the saccharide. We've made it muplitple times since and so but without the carbohydrate..... YUM!!!
11/twenty/2011
EXCELLENT QUICK AND EASY. WHEN Y'all Drain THE MEAT Utilise THAT TO SAUTE THE GARLIC AND ONIONS. I DRAINED THE KIDNEY BEANS AND PINTO BEANS Before ADDING TO THE POT. Drain THE TOMATOES Also BUT SAVE IT INCASE THE CHILLI GETS TO THICK THEN YOU CAN Add SOME OF THE DRAINED TOMATO INSTEAD OF Only WATER. FANTASTIC, Elementary, QUICK RECIPE AND IT TASTES GREAT. IT WAS Not A HIT...IT WAS A Habitation RUN.
12/18/2011
Actually skilful, get-go time making chili...my beau loved information technology! Used ground turkey instead of beef and added hot sauce to taste. I served it with cornbread.
03/25/2008
This was an excellent recipe. We omitted the hot sauce because children nosotros eating too, but it was awesome with AND without! We made a couple of 'errors' with as well little basis beef, likewise many beans...simply it was fantastic besides the chefs mistakes...lol
02/04/2012
Best chili I've had in a LONG time! I halved the recipe and it seems overly beefy for my taste - next fourth dimension I will nonetheless cut it in half but continue both cans of beans. Subbed cayenne for hot sauce and love apple paste for tomato sauce (didn't take whatsoever). Cut the h2o dorsum to 2T to avoid soupiness (putting it into bread bowls) - perfecto!
05/23/2013
This was one of the best chilis I have ever made. I turned this into chili mac and we raved over this simple merely delicious dish. I scaled this down to half, used footing chuck and cooked the onion and garlic right in equally I browned the beef. I had to utilise what I had on paw but this recipe is so versatile that it still turned out so tasty. I used Texas sweet onion, Del Fuerte mexican love apple sauce, half a tin can of roma love apple paste instead of Italian mode diced tomatoes, a can of stewed tomatoes, 1 can of Bush'southward chili beans, a splash of white vinegar,a hefty pinch of cocoa powder, and replaced the water with beef broth considering I had it open in the fridge. I forgot to add the hot pepper sauce, but that may have been a plus considering hubs no longer has his cast iron tummy.
01/22/2012
Awesome! Quick to set on a common cold night.
12/29/2011
Very easy and very expert. For the hot sauce, I used a couple tablespoons of my favorite taco sauce.
12/01/2008
I've fabricated this twice at present and it is VERY skillful. Quick and easy with fantastic results. I was somewhat confused with the ingredient list: it calls for 2 cans of Italian-style diced tomatoes, merely then the directions refer to tomatoes with chili peppers. I used 3 cans regular diced tomatoes (undrained) and and then one 4oz. can (drained) diced chilies. I also used all kidney beans and reduced the table salt to 2 tsp. and the hot pepper sauce to one tsp. (I'1000 a weakling when information technology comes to spice) Succulent!
11/13/2000
This is by far the all-time chili I have tasted!
12/01/2011
Very good. I used footing turkey (dieting) and peradventure half the salt. I left out the hot sauce because I'm a wimp with spices. It was swell. The hubby who loves heat, added hot sauce to his bowl at the end. I liked the hint of the sugariness. Highly recommend the recipe.
ten/xvi/2004
This chili recipe was very tasty...the best I've tried. I substituted 1 lb basis beef and ane large leftover prime rib (cubed), halved the amount of onion, left out the hot sauce (for my daughter'due south sake), and used 1 C dark beer instead of water. I also allow it simmer uncovered for about ii hours as it seemed a little watered down. The adjacent fourth dimension I brand this recipe, I'll add one can of black beens in improver to the kidneys and pintos that the recipe calls for. I'd recommend this recipe to anyone who likes a hearty, classic-falvored chili.
11/05/2009
I was skeptical of whatsoever chili that didn't have to cook all solar day, but this was excellent!
04/14/2012
Nifty chili recipe
08/22/2006
Turned out well, merely with some alterations: I used a slowcooker, and allow it cook a practiced twenty hours. This allowed it to thicken up. I used hard cider in place of the h2o and added a few sprinkles of ground cloves. Side by side time I'll use only kidney beans, I like the firmer texture of the kidney beans more than the pintos. Also I'll use lycopersicon esculentum paste rather than sauce to help with the overall consistency. Still I requite this chili excellent marks for the blend of flavors, not too spicy, just sweet plenty.
12/05/2009
This is my go-to recipe anytime we demand chili. To add together more color and crunch, I add together one chopped green bong pepper and one loving cup of frozen corn. We beloved this served with a nice piece of corn staff of life.
01/31/2008
This is the best Chili nosotros accept always swallow and to add to information technology would only take away the tast. To me Miss or Mrs Pam Smith know's what she's doing
11/17/2011
Swell way to make quick chili! I substitute chicken goop for water and add a few extra spices such as chili powder and chipotle and double the cumin and pepper and hot sauce - pretty much throw in any spices smell like they will taste practiced in the chili. I've too made information technology with turkey instead of beefiness and information technology was TASTY!! Have made this stuff quite a few times this year and anybody is ever requesting seconds...and thirds.
05/19/2012
Groovy recipe! Cheers for sharing!
03/01/2012
Like shooting fish in a barrel!
11/thirty/2011
This chili was wonderful, easy to brand for a large crowd and inexpensive. Thanks for an awesome recipe.
x/20/2008
THIS IS MY FAVORITE CHILI RECIPE... I ADD ONE Can OF CORN TO Information technology As WELL... YUMMO!
12/18/2008
Very Very easy and hearty. I leave out most of the h2o to brand it thicker, and employ 2 cans of kidney beans. Yous tin brand it hot or mild - great westward/ sour cream and cheese!
04/17/2008
This is excellent! I used a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes, i small can of tomato plant paste and one small can of love apple sauce and I omitted the chili pulverisation considering I accept lilliputian ones. It turned out splendid. This is a super like shooting fish in a barrel, delicious meal.
12/03/2000
I loved this chili. This is easy to brand, quick to make and dandy to swallow. I tin't wait to eat some more.
06/sixteen/2008
I thought information technology was delicious! Thank you. Later on I fabricated it I transfered information technology to a crockpot and brought information technology to a baseball consession stand and everyone loved it! Every bit someone else said, it was even better the side by side day! Thanks once more!
09/21/2011
I brand this all the time, my family loves it. I simply apply one pound of meat.
09/27/2005
In the first chili cook-off 11/04, my husband won with this recipe, merely subbed dark beer for water. I made Fusion Chili (Tin can y'all figure Quick Chili I beats out the more creative Fusion Chili?) In side by side chili-cookoff, married man stood by Quick Chili 1, But I tried Chili II past Cathie, calculation fresh chilantro and flake more chili powder and about 2 TBL cumin. I won.
08/31/2009
Darn good chili!! Quick & easy just what i was looking for.Cheers :))
10/09/2013
This ane of the best things to eat on a cold day. The other thing is tomato soup with grilled cheese sandwiches.
04/xvi/2008
I brought it into work and people who don't even eat chili loved it and asked for more next week
01/04/2006
This is a not bad basic chili recipe. Sometimes I use half basis turkey and half ground beef. I besides add diced crimson and green bell pepper. I utilise the petite-cut canned tomatoes considering I don't like big chunks of tomatoes. I start with half the amount of chili pulverisation because some family members can't handle the spice. I serve it with sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese on the side. Yummy!
12/11/2009
This is the first time I've made chili and I recollect I did a pretty good job thanks to this recipe! I couldn't notice the Italian-Style tomatoes so I used the Zesty Chili Style and but didn't add water. This is really good considering how quick and like shooting fish in a barrel it is. Thank you!
08/twenty/2009
This was delicious!! I used beef broth instead of the water and a can of Rotel instead of the diced tomatoes. Everyone thought it was neat!
12/04/2008
If you demand a quick chili, use this one. This was the all-time basis beefiness chili I always made or ate. I don't unremarkably like chili made with footing beef - never considered it the real thing! This is quick and flavorful. Ignore the review that says it'south terrible! I'm throwing out all my other quick chili recipes and just going with this one.
xi/20/2011
What a simple recipe! I made information technology exactly every bit listed with the exception of calculation some green pepper and omitting the hot pepper sauce as my husband and I don't especially like spicy chili. I made this for a political party we threw recently and information technology was a large striking with everyone there! This was the first chili recipe I had ever attempted and nosotros just love information technology.
eleven/21/2011
Such a great chili receipe! Easy to follow and tastes delicious! I thought information technology was a trivial soupier than I would've liked, next time I'll lessen the water or add some love apple paste. As well, I used cerise pepper flakes instead of hot sauce and fabricated mine pretty spicy. Smashing sunday football watching meal!
06/15/2009
GREAT recipe. Super easy- throw information technology together an hour before dinnertime and it'southward ready to go. Tastes as good every bit some of those 'all-twenty-four hour period' chili's I've been a slave to the kitchen for. Wearing apparel it up as y'all like- add a little extra kick with some cheyanne pepper, or make a little 'fixin's' bar for company with cheese, fries, greenish onions, sour cream and jalapenos. Well liked by all.
12/07/2008
This recipe is easy to work with. Nosotros didn't need viii servings. I fabricated some adjustments.(one pound basis beefiness,ii cans diced tomato,(1 chili ready,i regular).Reduced the spices based on the recipe portions.Used one onion and three garlic cloves. For the water, kept it at ane loving cup,but used ane/2 water and ane/2 beer. Added green peppers and corn. Can't wait to make the full recipe next fourth dimension.
12/07/2004
A+++++ I have fabricated this twice and it is crawly. Both times I put information technology in my crock pot in the morning and we had it for supper that dark. Fifty-fifty though I put information technology in the crock pot I however browned and tuckered the meat first. The first fourth dimension I made information technology there was a very slight sweetness taste to it. It wasn't bad only nosotros are just not used to a sweetness taste in our chili then the next time I left out the saccharide and it was perfect. This chili is non spicy so it is perfect for the kids, nosotros adults add together cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to our bowls to spice it up a little more. The merely other thing I did was adding flour to make it a little thicker. I took out a cup of the broth and mixed it with flour to make a paste and let information technology simmer. We will be making this often.
04/09/2012
I LOVE this chili! Very quick and like shooting fish in a barrel to make, and the flavor is great...I do add together a bit more hot pepper sauce (I employ Frank'due south Reddish Hot) because my husband and I like spicy food. I also add a few packets of Taco Bell mild sauce (my grandmother's "secret" chili ingredient haha)

Loved this chili! It was very easy and cheap to brand. I used 4 fresh tomatoes and one can because I didn't have lycopersicon esculentum sauce or canned tomatoes, it was a perfect ratio. I think the fresh tomatoes add to the texture also. I added but a petty flour in the meat (like a roux) to thicken it upwardly. Delicious!
